Bepco UK Supports Award-Winning Local Litter Picking Group

07 December 2020

Kidderminster, UK - An industry leader in the supply of agricultural parts and accessories has stepped up to support the efforts of a local, award winning litter picking group.

Bepco UK is proud to support nationally recognised, The Pickup Artists, based in Kidderminster – Worcestershire. The litter picking group which was founded and is now run by Michelle Medler consists of over 1,000 members who collectively endeavour to ensure local areas are kept free of litter and rubbish.

As Bepco UK transitions from its current site in Hartlebury to its new home on Zortech Avenue in Kidderminster, the business is eager to support local volunteer groups and charities in their efforts to make the locality and surrounding region a better place for everyone to work and live.

The Pickup Artists made themselves known to Bepco after making the news earlier this year for winning the prestigious Points of Light award. Presented to them by the Prime Minister, the award recognises outstanding individuals who make a difference in their community. In a personal letter to founder Michelle, Mr Johnson said, “I want to thank you for your extraordinary efforts to keep our country tidy.” Read more here.

Bepco UK was inspired by this group and their accolade so got in touch to find out where and how they could help. Edward Nash, Marketing Manager at Bepco, said, “As the business continues to grow at a rapid pace, we are passionate about giving something back to the community via the support of local causes. We are proud to have already been supporting KEMP Hospice throughout 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021. However, to continue moving forward in every field as our motto dictates, we believe in doing more and doing better.” This led the organisation to approach the Pickup Artists and offer their support in upcoming actions and initiatives.

Michelle comments, “We were delighted to be approached by this big company looking to make its mark in the region. Edward got in touch, and after a short meeting to discuss what we could do together, I was excited about the collaboration and the results we could achieve. We have been in need of some face masks for several months and Bepco kindly offered to oversee the design, supply and procurement of 100 of these; to ensure the safety and well-being of our volunteers while out on litter picks together in groups." As well as this, Bepco will be donating its plastic bottle and tin can waste to the group in order to help them generate additional revenue for their promotions and activities.

Edward lives in the Kidderminster area and identified a section of waterway and surrounding grassland that was in desperate need of a litter pick. On Saturday 05 December, a team was assembled and after around three hours of wading through streams, striding through brambles and sifting through hedgerows 11 bin bags of rubbish was collected along with a; computer monitor, push scooter, fire extinguisher, petrol powered strimmer, microwave, set of tyres, garden hose pipe, vacuum cleaner, and an office chair.

Bepco UK is proud to be supporting this fantastic organisation and if you’d like to find out more about them, visit the Pickup Artists website for their latest updates, news and events, or follow them on Facebook.
